Acudetox at Willow Tree Counseling

At Willow Tree Counseling, we understand that healing from trauma is not just a mental process—it’s physical, emotional, and energetic. That’s why we offer Acudetox, also known as the NADA Protocol (National Acupuncture Detoxification Association), as a gentle and effective adjunct to trauma-informed therapy.

Acudetox is a five-point ear acupuncture protocol that supports emotional regulation, nervous system balance, and overall well-being. Used around the world in clinical and community settings, this evidence-based technique can be profoundly calming and restorative—especially for individuals navigating the effects of trauma, anxiety, grief, or chronic stress.

What Is Acudetox?

Acudetox involves the placement of five small, sterile needles in specific points on each ear. These points correspond with key systems in the body, including the nervous system, liver, kidneys, lungs, and emotional centers.

The treatment typically lasts between 30–45 minutes and is provided in a quiet, meditative setting.

The Five Points Target:

  • Sympathetic Point – to calm the nervous system

  • Shen Men (Spirit Gate) – to reduce anxiety and promote emotional release

  • Kidney Point – to support resilience and reduce fear

  • Liver Point – to promote detoxification and manage anger

  • Lung Point – to release grief and support breath and presence

Why Acudetox for Trauma Healing?

Trauma lives in the body. Many trauma survivors experience chronic dysregulation—difficulty sleeping, racing thoughts, hypervigilance, emotional overwhelm, or numbness. Acudetox gently supports the rebalancing of the autonomic nervous system, allowing clients to feel safer in their bodies and more grounded during and between therapy sessions.

At Willow Tree Counseling, Acudetox is used to:

  • Reduce symptoms of anxiety, agitation, and insomnia

  • Support emotional processing during trauma therapy

  • Prepare the body for deeper somatic or EMDR work

  • Help clients feel more present and centered

  • Foster relaxation and improve self-regulation

Is Acudetox Right for You?

Whether you’re already working with a Willow Tree therapist or are just beginning your healing journey, we welcome your curiosity about Acudetox.

You don’t have to “do more”—you simply have to be present. This modality offers a quiet invitation for your body and mind to reconnect and begin releasing what no longer serves you.

How We Integrate Acudetox at Willow Tree

Acudetox is not a standalone treatment for trauma—but in a trauma-trained clinic like ours, it becomes a powerful adjunct to talk therapy, somatic processing, EMDR, and KAP.

We offer Acudetox as part of a holistic treatment plan when it aligns with a client’s therapeutic goals and consent.

Your therapist may recommend Acudetox before or after a session to support nervous system regulation or as a regular part of your care plan during periods of emotional intensity or healing.

Acudetox at Willow Tree is:

  • Administered by trained and certified clinicians

  • Safe, minimally invasive, and well-tolerated

  • Always offered with consent and client choice in mind

  • Part of our commitment to integrative, trauma-informed care
